What Metaboli thinks

PC game Test Drive Unlimited
Atari and Eden games have re-invented online racing: welcome to the concept of MOOR: Massively Open Online Racing. And what does that mean? Well it comes down to the fact that you're on an island that's populated with other Test Drive Unlimited players. Just driving around you'll see them race by in their own hard earned vehicles. You can challenge anyone you see to an instant challenge. Or go to specific zones to race against one-another. Or create a racing Club. Or race a challenge created by another player. It's a living racing community that's out there, just hop in your super-car and you're away.
Of course saying all this interaction between players is very nice, but it doesn't mean squat if the cars aren't there to back it up. Well in Test Drive Unlimited they most definitely are: almost 100 vehicles are out there to buy (and win, and trade) with models from Ferrari, Ducati, Ford and for us brits: Aston Martin, Lotus, TVR, Triumph and Noble, just to name a few. There are all levels of cars from the Audi TT up to the McLaren F1. With some great classics, there's a car in there for everyone's taste. And if four wheels is two too many then there's some bikes thrown into the mix.
Handling in TDU is top notch, acclaimed by almost everyone that's touched it. You'll see what we mean when you take a Lotus Eclipse down one of the curvy mountain races. And once you get to Champion level you can play the game in Hardcore mode; more realistic and less forgiving than the normal, it's the true petrol-head racing experience.
But head to head races aren't all that you'll be doing: with package delivery, hitchhiking, car delivery, eliminators and time trials across the nine vehicle classes, you'll soon be trained up to be the best driver for each event.
Graphically you can't find much prettier than Test Drive. The island is spectacular to drive around, as close a copy of the real Oahu as possible, it's stunning with its plains, mountains, beaches, cities and motorways. And the cars really are a dream; perfectly modelled both inside and out, you won't find nicer curves anywhere.

To play Test Drive Unlimited you will need to request your multiplayer key (via the link on this page under the play button - visible if you have the rights to this game). You will be required to enter the key TWICE; once activating the game, and a second time inside the game upon launching it for the first time.
And be careful; create an online account (with a free gamespy id) from the beginning; you will not be able to change an offline TDU account into an online at a later date.
